About me
If you've come here, you probably want to know a little bit more about me...
This is a bit long, but here is my story!
My commitment to public service has defined my life and it's what has led me to run for Alderman in North Topsail Beach. With over 28 years in law enforcement, I have dedicated my career to protecting communities, standing up for what's right, and leading with integrity.
I grew up in north-central Florida originally studying computer information science and engineering at the University of Florida, but my path eventually led me to a career in law enforcement. I started as a police officer in Gainesville before moving to the Washington, D.C., region, where I served the Arlington County Police Department for decades and retired in January 2021. In my time there, I rose through the ranks and learned how to lead diverse teams, manage large projects, and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations. My experience in strategic planning and working with county government gave me a deep understanding of what it takes to run a town effectively.
After a long and fulfilling career, we retired here to North Topsail Beach with our rescue dog, Rupert - who loves his beach walks, belly rubs, and delicious treats. I immediately started a new chapter as an Emergency Management Planner, helping communities across the country prepare for and respond to disasters. This experience is particularly important for a coastal town like ours, where we must always be prepared for whatever nature brings.
I believe in giving back, which is why I've been actively involved in our community. I am proud to serve as the Chair of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, working to ensure our town grows in a way that is smart, balanced, and preserves our unique character. I am also honored to serve as a reserve police officer right here in North Topsail Beach, continuing my lifelong commitment to public safety.
In addition, I serve as the Vice President of the Ocean City Beach Citizens Council, helping to preserve the history and future of one of our town’s cherished, historical communities. I also support the arts through my work with Ferry Tales Youth Theater, because I believe investing in our young people strengthens the heart of our community.
My experience has taught me that effective leadership matters. It's about listening to all voices, whether you're a full-time resident, a second-home owner, or a business owner. These stakeholders all contribute to our community and deserve to have their concerns heard and respected.
I am running for Alderman because I care deeply about the future of this special place. I want to work together to ensure North Topsail Beach remains safe, resilient, and welcoming for generations to come.
Community Commitment
I'm dedicated to actively engaging with residents, homeowners, and local groups to not only understand your concerns, but also to foster a more connected community where everyone feels represented.
My goal is to create opportunities for us to meet face-to-face, so you can get to know me and we can work together to shape the future of home - North Topsail Beach.
